The Client: The client is media agency for the UK subsidiary of one of the world’s largest movies and music companies.

The Challenge: The client had a novel idea for promotion of their movie whose main theme was based on rap battles. The concept was to replicate these rap battles online. The rationale was that the users would be able to post their songs on a website, and other people could challenge these songs by posting their own songs, simulating an online virtual battle. The visitors who do not want to participate could cast their votes for a song of their choice. .

Solution: Before the client approached us, a variety of solutions were suggested to them. Most of them had usability issues (like microphones to speak, voice clarity on dial up connection, etc.) and were rejected by the end client.
We decided to use an innovative approach of tightly integrating the web-casting system with an interactive voice response system. Our novel process involved the following:

There were numerous hurdles to this approach that our team tackled successfully. One of the most important of them was the budgetary constraint that ruled out digital E1. We had to resort to an analog phone line using low end Dialogic telephony card that supports only one activity at a time - either listening or recording. We overcame this hurdle by an innovative use of cross connecting the channels on the cards in a pair.

We provided the client a complete solution on turnkey basis. This included on site creation, purchase, maintenance and management of the full infrastructure, getting a national local rate number in UK, developing and installation of an IVRS system on the client’s location and putting up of a VPN and connecting it to a web casting system. We also took the precaution of setting up another backup IVRS at an offshore location as a backup to ensure minimal downtime in case of an unexpected event.
We achieved all this using our own expertise and skills, without resorting to any outsourcing except for the secondary offshore setup in another European country.
